FAQs
Do I need a
fishing license?
You will not
need a fishing license aboard any boat operated by Affordable Fishing
Charters. Our boats are covered by a blanket license for residents
and non-residents of North Carolina.
Do You Accept
Credit Cards?
Yes, we accept
MasterCard and Visa, as well as cash or personal check.
What should I
bring aboard?
Please bring
whatever you would like to eat or drink, along with any medications you
might need. To maximize your fishing space, please keep coolers as small
as possible. You may wish to bring sunscreen and a jacket.
You will not need to bring fishing rods, tackle, ice or bait.
Is a fish
cleaning service provided?
We are more than
willing to clean your fish for you after your trip for a nominal charge.
We'll even give you some hints on our favorite ways to cook your catch if
you like!
Can I bring my
kids?
Children are
very welcome aboard our charters. Please be advised, however, that
children 13 years old and younger are required by the Coast Guard to wear
a life jacket while aboard.
We would like to
go, but we don’t have a babysitter. Do you have any suggestions?
As mentioned
above, children are welcome on our charters. If, however, you would
like to utilize a babysitter, we have two Red Cross certified babysitters
on our staff who are available at a very
reasonable rate.
How many people
can come on your boat?
Our captains are
US Coast Guard licensed for up to six (6) people. However, we try to
limit the number to four (4) in order to insure
that everyone has plenty of room and a great day of fishing.
How far do we go
out?
Generally
speaking, on half day trips we will go eight to ten miles off shore.
On the three-quarter day trips, we’ll go twelve to twenty miles off shore,
and on the full day trips, we’ll be thirty to forty miles off shore.
We only go as far as necessary for you to catch the type of fish you’re
after.
What can I do to
prevent seasickness?
The night before
a trip, some anglers choose take an over-the-counter motion-sickness medication
such as Dramamine or Bonine. Some people
prefer to use the patch behind the ear, and others prefer to use the
wristbands.
What happens if
we still get sick?
This is your
trip and we want you to have the experience of a lifetime. If you
wish, we can end the day early and return to dock.
What happens to
my deposit money if I have to cancel?
Deposit money is
not refundable unless we can rebook your trip with another party for that
same time slot.
What happens to
my deposit money if we can’t go because of the weather or high seas?
If the captain
cancels your trip due to weather, sea conditions or even mechanical
problems, your deposit will be refunded in full. However, we reserve
the right to reschedule your trip if possible.
There are only
two of us and we can’t afford the full cost. Do we have any options?
Yes. We
can possibly put together a “mixed” party. Everyone would then share
the cost equally.
